Details to the Guided Tours:
"Ein jeder kennt den Weg nach Haus" - Einblicke in das bewegte Leben der Familie Sondheimer mit Laura Vollmers
During a guided tour, Laura Vollmers offers a glimpse into the life of the Sondheimer family, who once lived in VILLA 102 until they were forced to leave Germany in 1932. It is the story of a Jewish family from Frankfurt, of upper-class life in the Westend neighborhood, but also of expulsion and expropriation under National Socialism—interwoven with the more than 100-year history of VILLA 102.
Laura Vollmers is an art historian and provenance researcher from Frankfurt. Her research focuses on the study of National Socialism, 19th- and 20th-century Jewish history, and art market networks in Germany.
"Ein Gebäude als Zeitzeuge - die Villa 102" with Silke Westerhoff from Kulturothek Frankfurt
The guided tour with Silke Westerhoff from Kulturothek focuses, among other things, on the residents of the villas from the era of Frankfurt’s upper middle class in the Westend district. VILLA 102—a testament to that era—is known to many Frankfurt residents as the Literaturhaus, home to a legendary café. The tour offers insight into the eventful history of this historic landmark on Bockenheimer Landstraße.
For over 30 years, the Kulturothek has been known for its themed events on Frankfurt’s city history—whether on foot or on wheels, as a guided walking tour or a sightseeing tour, a slide show or a stage performance, and whether educational or entertaining.
