Tag des offenen Denkmals

Tag des offenen Denkmals (Open Monument Day)

"Buildings also have 'resumés,'" says book author Marc Zirlewagen. The villa at 102 Bockenheimer Landstrasse was built more than 100 years ago. Who designed it? Who lived there? And what traces were left by the bomb that detonated in the villa's garden during World War II? Visit Villa 102 and learn more about the historical background of the architectural monument during a guided tour.

Villa 102 will be open on Tag des offenen Denkmals (Open Monument Day) from 11:00 am - 6:00 pm. In addition, guided tours of the house will be offered. Registration is requested. Those who can not be there, have the opportunity to visit the house in the virtual tour.

The house as a contemporary witness

The eventful history of Villa 102 makes references to Frankfurt's upper middle-class Westend and Jewish life in the city, but also to expulsion and expropriation during National Socialism. After changing use of the building in the post-war period, including as a literature house, and years of vacancy, KfW acquired the building in 2012 and refurbished it in accordance with the preservation order. Since its reopening, Villa 102 has been the platform for culture and dialogue for KfW and its foundation.
