Frankfurt's Westend and the Villa 102

This walk through the Westend focuses on Frankfurt's upper middle class, their villas and residents. Families such as the Kotzenbergs, the family of Anne Frank and Ignatz Bubis and amusement parks like the Palmengarten.

A special treat on this tour is an exclusive look at the renovated Villa 102 - the KfW Stiftung's platform for culture and dialog. Some of you will recognise this historic building as the former literary house with a legendary café. From 1918, the Jewish family Sondheimer lived in the villa, which was built in 1912/1913 as a residence in the 'moderate neo-baroque' style. The building in Frankfurt tells a touching story of the upper middle class Westend and Jewish life in the city, as well as the expulsion and dispossession of the Jewish family during Nazi Germany.
